Position Summary

The University of Alabama at Birmingham, Med - Nephrology, is seeking an experienced and dedicated Research Scientist to join their team.

General Responsibilities

A Research Scientist conducts advanced studies in a specific field, applying specialized knowledge to drive research projects. This role involves data analysis, interpretation of results, and contribution to scientific literature. The position requires collaboration with peers and adherence to established protocols, with moderate autonomy and responsibility for project deliverables. Depending on the research focus, this position may involve research collaborator contact, research animal contact, and/or specimens.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

1. Conducting animal husbandry and genotyping for rat and mouse colonies.

2. Leading in radioimmunoassay, ELISA and RIA, RNA isolation analysis.

3. Tissue dissections and storage of biospecimens.

4. Training new personnel.

5. Supports safety protocols.

6. Running quality control assays.

7. Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary Range : $ 70,425- $ 114,440

Qualifications

Doctorate degree in a related field and one (1) year of related experience OR Master s degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience OR Bachelor s degree in a related field and five (5) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
