Summary of Job Duties: The Research Technician is responsible for the preparation, maintenance, and care of a research laboratory, and assisting in laboratory experiments. The technician will work as part of a team in a microbiology and immunology lab to study host immune responses to viral infections. We are looking for an applicant who is detail-oriented, can follow instructions, and learn new techniques quickly. Daily duties for the position include general lab maintenance (i.e., equipment and apparatus), ordering, and inventory organization. The Research Technician will be trained to conduct scientific experiments, which include but are not limited to molecular and cell biology, and working with mice and rabbits.
Qualifications:

High School diploma plus two (2) years of experience in performing tests in a research laboratory required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Documented experience in the techniques mentioned.

  • Basic knowledge of molecular biology, aseptic tissue culture, and the ability to handle mice and rabbits.

  • Be familiar with Microsoft Office software.

  • Ability to keep organized records and notes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree with college-level coursework in biology, chemistry, and biochemistry, and/or cell biology

  • Experience working in a research laboratory related to molecular biology or cell biology, proficient in working with mice or rabbits.

  • PCR, Western Blot, ELISA.
