In this vital role you will support the development and delivery of the Medical Affairs strategy for TAVNEOS, enhancing the value proposition of Amgen's rare disease franchise. Through cross-functional collaboration and a deep understanding of the treatment landscape, the Medical Director - Medical Affairs - TAVNEOS will assist in providing strategic direction in developing the US medical strategies in alignment with product and franchise strategies, including US external medical engagement, medical communication, and evidence generation, contributing to the overall product strategy. Contribute to cross functional teams in shaping the healthcare ecosystem by enabling access to medicines through evidence generation, communication and education of medical and economic value Synthesize and integrate insights to deliver medical inputs into relevant cross-functional strategies, including relevant brand strategy Develop and support delivery of the strategy for medical evidence generation that shapes our products and informs the practice of medicine ensuring key needs are met in alignment with TAVNEOS medical and relevant brand strategy Support the development and delivery of the TAVNEOS scientific communication strategy including clinical narrative framework, scientific platform, core content, medical education, and advisory boards Lead/support relationships with external healthcare community, including interactions with opinion leaders, payers and societies for scientific exchange, where appropriate Develop and/or contribute to delivery of advocacy plans and strategies in partnership with internal partners and lead relationships as appropriate Develop and manage medical budget for TAVNEOS Ensure product/disease state/pipeline specific medical training where appropriate, may deliver training to others Determine scientific/medical subject matter appropriateness of labels/regulatory/reimbursement/policy/promotional and medical deliverables (eg, product narrative, scientific platform, core content, publications including FPR/FLR, medical education and congresses) used to support internal/external interactions via appropriate review process Provide decision on IME, Donations, medical grants and sponsorships, where appropriate Lead/support the development of data interpretation, analysis and communication for medical studies Facilitate Investigator Sponsored Studies through Amgen governance and manage study lifecycle (including communicating with investigators, as appropriate and ensuring accurate reporting of key milestone data) What we expect of you We are all different, yet we all use our unique contributions to serve patients. Basic Qualifications: Doctorate degree and 4 years of related experience OR Master's degree and 8 years of related experience OR Bachelor's degree and 10 years of related experience In addition to meeting at least one of the above requirements, you must have at least 4 years experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs, or directing the allocation or resources. Your managerial experience may run concurrently with the required technical experience referenced above Preferred Qualifications: 5 years of Medical Affairs and/or real-world evidence experience and/or other research in nephrology and/or rheumatology PharmD, PhD or MD preferred Clinical and disease knowledge base in vasculitis Managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources Demonstrated ability as a medical expert in a complex matrix environment Pharmaceutical product development, product lifecycle and commercialization process knowledge with understanding of other functions; including, but not limited to, Clinical Operations, Commercial, Safety, Regulatory, Value & Access, and Medical Affairs Experience in regional/local medical practice and healthcare ecosystems Skilled at engagement, scientific exchange with external medical community (especially Nephrologists and Rheumatologists) In-depth understanding of the scientific method and clinical applications based on medical, scientific and practical rationale Familiarity with concepts of clinical research and clinical trial design, including biostatistics Knowledge of Good Clinical Practices (GCP), region regulations and guidelines, and applicable international regulatory requirements Familiarity of local pharmaceutical industry and legal/health system environment Skilled at effectively presenting ideas and documenting complex medical/clinical concepts in both written and oral communication History of solving problems while exhibiting superior judgment and a balanced, realistic understanding of issues Network of medical, clinical contacts in vasculitis and/or nephrology/rheumatology What you can expect of us As we work to develop treatments that take care of others, we also work to care for your professional and personal growth and well-being. The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
