Come join our exceptional Department of Neurobiology, and help lead the advancement of cutting-edge basic science research into explorations of the brain and central nervous system. In this Connectomics Research Associate (SRA II) role you'll work in the nexus of neuroscience research at UCLA. This position has a fixed hybrid schedule that requires on-site work 4-days per week.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Primarily support highly technical and complex wet laboratory research procedures for projects with aggressive federally funded milestones through histological procedures and analyses utilizing animals.
  • Collaborates with principal investigator and other researchers to plan, design and conduct highly technical and complex research projects and experiments, as needed.
  • Develops workflows to meet all deadlines.
  • Identifies appropriate species, time needed to perform the studies, the resources needed, and the personnel required to complete all projects and experiments.

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • Previous experience in Connectomics
  • Knowledge of neurosurgery and stereotactic ICV implantation.
  • Effective organizational skills in wet laboratory administration.
  • Basic functional understanding of the research concerns related to the effects of perinatal ethanol exposure on certain neuroendocrine, neuroimmune, behavioral and neurochemical indices of central nervous system development and function.
  • Technical expertise and working knowledge of neuroanatomy, biochemistry and physiology
  • Experience in training staff and student workers as needed
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret data critically, prepare manuscripts and present findings at scientific meetings. Highly specialized technical histological skills and functional knowledge.
  • Broad theoretical and practical knowledge of standard organic, physical and analytical chemical methods.
