We are seeking a highly motivated Research Scientist to join the Philip Hanlon and Gail Gentes Cluster for Personalized Treatments for Cystic Fibrosis (CF Cluster) at Dartmouth
- Oversight and Development of Research Resources: Oversee husbandry of genetically modified mouse lines that are in conventional or gnotobiotic facilities at Dartmouth and used as models for CF research, help with the importation of additional CF mouse lines to Dartmouth, design breeding and genotyping strategies, coordinate with labs for experimental access to mouse lines and cells.
- Design and Conduct Experiments: Develop and execute experiments to measure lung function, immune responses and other parameters in response to airway infection in CF mouse lines, ensuring validity and reproducibility.
- Data Analysis and Interpretation: Analyze experimental data using appropriate statistical and bioinformatics tools and interpret results to draw meaningful conclusions relevant to immunological processes or disease mechanisms.
- Literature Review and Staying Current: Continuously review scientific literature to stay updated on the latest in cystic fibrosis and immunology research, techniques, and technologies.
- Develop and Optimize Assays: Develop, validate, and optimize lung function assays such as spirometry and immunological assays such as ELISA, immunofluorescence microscopy and flow cytometry.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams including other scientists, and external partners; communicate findings through reports, presentations, and publications.
- Documentation and Compliance: Maintain accurate and detailed records of experiments, procedures, and results in compliance with institutional, ethical, and regulatory standards.
- Mentoring and Supervision: Provide guidance and supervision to junior researchers, technicians, and students.
- Project Management: Plan research activities, manage timelines, and ensure milestones are met within budget.
PhD in Immunology (or related field), with postdoc experience preferred.
