Job Overview

Under the guidance of department leadership, the Associate Lab Technician plays a vital role in diagnostic clinical and contract research

testing. This position involves sample preparation, laboratory reagent handling, and routine equipment maintenance to ensure accurate results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and safety guidelines.
  • Conduct diagnostic testing using one of four analyzers, handling 500-1,500 samples per shift.
  • Assist with sample identification, labeling, processing, and centrifuging during peak hours.
  • Prepare and maintain laboratory reagents as required.
  • Operate, calibrate, and troubleshoot lab equipment; participate in validation processes.
  • Release final results in accordance with training and compliance standards.

Qualifications & Skills Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, etc.) or Medical Laboratory Technology with ASCP certification.
  • Preferred: Clinical Laboratory Science degree with 4+ years of hands-on testing experience or a Master's degree with 2+ years of experience.
  • Strong experience in laboratory procedures, medical sample preparation, blood banking, and diagnostic testing.

Additional Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with human biological sample testing (blood, tissue, urine, etc.).
  • Blood banking expertise and hands-on lab internship experience.
  • Familiarity with equipment including centrifuges, qPCR instrumentation, gel electrophoresis, and sequencers.

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Position based in the testing lab, supporting sample diagnostic testing for multiple locations across Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Michigan. ( Site is in Indianapolis, Indiana).
  • 1st shift schedule: Friday- Monday, 6AM- 4:15 PM, with rotating holiday shifts.
  • Professional dress code: scrubs or business casual with long pants and closed-toe shoes.
  • Lab equipment includes analyzers, pipettes, centrifuges, microscopes, pH meters, and automated hematology systems.
  • Work alongside a team of 2-3 technicians and 2-3 sample management assistants.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.75 - $26.50/hr.
