Pay Range Information:Chapman University is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position. This range takes into account a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Salary offers are determined based on the final candidates qualifications and experience, as well as internal equity and other internal factors. The anticipated pay range is not a promise of a particular wage.
Job Description Summary:Provide support to the Principal Investigator to conduct lab experiments, including cell culture, molecular biology techniques, microscopy, general laboratory maintenance, and preparing chemical reagents and/or buffers.
This is a non-exempt staff position scheduled to work up to 29 hours per week for a duration of one (1) year based on available funding.
Under the PI (Principal Investigtors) supervision:
- Cell culture, basic biochemical and molecular assays such as ELISA, RT-PCR, immunoblotting, and microscopy
- Maintenance of the laboratorys cell culture facility and general lab maintenance, including preparing buffer and media solutions and general cleanup
- Record the data in a lab notebook and plot the data
- Be able to work individually and with a scientific team
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Bachelors degree plus experience in working on cell culture, molecular, or biochemical assays.
- Knowledge of research and experimental methods in cell and molecular biology.
- Ability to operate laboratory equipment and maintain a safe working environment.
- Ability to conduct experiments in a timely manner and accurately record data.
