Description
The Department of Molecular and Medical Pharmacology is hiring a Staff Research Associate II to conduct molecular biology experiments, including PCR, western blotting, and tissue culture with mammalian organoid systems. Responsibilities encompass organoid expansion, cancer biology assays, mycoplasma testing, cell line fingerprinting, freezing/thawing organoid models, and high-throughput genetic screening in 2D and 3D cultures. The associate will analyze results, maintain detailed records, adapt procedures, and seek improvements through literature review. Duties also include leading lower-level staff, ensuring lab organization and safety compliance, ordering supplies, developing safety protocols, and training new lab members.
Hourly range: $28.88-$46.46
Qualifications
Required:
Demonstrated knowledge of genetics, molecular biology and biochemical principles;
Experience with laboratory equipment, including centrifuge, pH meter, incubators, biosafety cabinet hoods, PCR machines and electrophoresis apparatus;
Demonstrated computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft applications;
Ability and desire to work as part of a team and to work without technical supervision;
Bachelor's or Master's degree in life sciences, ideally with a background in protein biochemistry, molecular biology, or equivalent;
Familiarity with techniques including SDS-PAGE, western blotting, and cloning;
Demonstrated ability to calculate concentrations of solutions as necessary;
Ability to create and maintain records accurately;
Ability to communicate effectively to convey experimental results; Previous experience in a research environment.
Preferred:
Ability to learn new methods and protocols and to adapt these to current laboratory situations
