Duties and Responsibilities
The Billingsley Lab in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Loyola University Chicago is seeking a research associate with a background in medicinal chemistry or chemical biology. Our group is focused on the design and application of novel therapeutics and molecular imaging probes. Specifically, we employ a cross-disciplinary approach to investigate particular aspects of small molecule regulation of biochemical pathways. The research associate will primarily conduct biological assays to elucidate the biochemical properties of novel synthetic agents. As a senior lab member, the successful applicant will also communicate scientific results in weekly meetings, oversee and participate in lab operations, and mentor/train students.
Minimum Education and/or Work Experience
Bachelor's Degree in biology, chemistry, biochemistry or a related field.
1-2 years of previous research experience in medicinal chemistry, chemical biology, neuroscience, molecular biology, or cell biology.
Qualifications
Master's degree in a relevant field (chemistry, biochemistry, or biology) or comparable experience is required.
Practical knowledge of organic chemistry and relevant analytical techniques is also an advantage.
Certificates/Credentials/Licenses
No additional certificates, credentials or licenses are required to perform the duties of this position.
Computer Skills
The position requires basic computer skills such as the use of Word, Excel
