**About the Department**
Krishnan Laboratory is at the forefront of applying DNA nanotechnology
to target small molecules specifically diseased cells with
organelle-level precision. Currently, our lab is developing
high-accuracy, DNA-based probes for discovery biology by using them for
high throughput screening. While
you are here, your project will involve developing assays for CRISPR
screening genetic models based on quantitative fluorescence outputs, for
the discovery and characterization of new ion channels or transporters
in organelles, that may impact neurodegenerative/cardiac / immune-
related diseases.
**Job Summary**
The Staff Scientist will execute, facilitate, and promote advanced
technical and scientific research projects within the Krishnan Lab. We
are seeking a candidate who recognizes the need for innovation and
develops or incorporates advances in assay development. This position
will be conducting sequencing methods, as well as developing and testing
hypotheses related to the molecular and cell biological functionality of
candidate hits.
**Responsibilities**
- Develop and support research and operations in macrophage
phenotyping and genotyping, DNA nanodevice design and
characterization and gene cloning.
- Conduct operation, development, and maintenance of tissue culture
and the associated support equipment, including consumables and
computational pipeline.
- Develop innate and adaptive immunological assays, multi-parameter
flow cytometry as well as endocytic assays in various cell types.
- Assist GUV preparations and integrating them with DNA nanodevices
for imaging and sensor testing.
- Develop innate and adaptive immunological assays, multi-parameter
flow cytometry as well as endocytic assays in various cell types.
- Design, develop, and test new experimental workflows, instruments,
and/or reagents for research (including hardware, software,
statistical methods, etc.).
- Train and assist other lab users, as prescribed by the Principal
Investigator, in all aspects of cell culture, and cell biological
methods, molecular biology, image processing and data analysis.
- Participate in the preparation and writing of grant applications and
reports, and co-authors scientific research manuscripts.
- May present work at scientific meetings and provide peer review of
grant applications and scientific manuscripts.
- Perform other related work as needed, with respect to this and other
related projects, data organization and management, procurement of
research supplies, management of regulatory documents (IACUC/IBC).
