Scientist - Molecular and Integrative Physiology**

**Job Summary**
Employ molecular, cellular and electrophysiological approaches to study
neuronal hyperexcitability and cognition in autism spectrum disorders
using genetic mouse models.
**Duties & Responsibilities**
- Performing multi-electrode array electrophysiology on mouse primary
neurons to measure neural network activity
- Preparing primary mouse cortical and/or hippocampal neuron for
biochemistry experiments
- Performing confocal microscopy using primary mouse neurons,
performing electron microscopy using mouse brain sections,
performing gene transfection in neurons and cultured cells
- Performing biochemistry, including western blotting and in vitro
protein purification, using mouse tissues or cultured cells
- Performing rodent behavioral assays
- Managing mouse colonies and genotyping
- Assisting in training graduate and undergraduate students,
collaborating with internal and external researchers as necessary
- Preparing manuscripts for publication, formulating grant proposals
for federal and private funding agencies
- Assisting the Principal Investigator in preparing progress reports
for grants supporting the research
**Required Qualifications**
PhD degree with experience in neuroscience or related field of study
**Successful Candidates Will Have:**
- Publish at least one first-author paper in autism or
neurodevelopmental disorders Successfully obtained at least one
external grant or fellowship knowledge of performing electron
microscopy using mouse brain sections knowledge of operating Axion
Maestro Edge Multi-Electrode Array recording apparatus Ability to
clearly communicate results and their importance. Exceptional
communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Commitment
to creating an inclusive environment Ability to assume
responsibility and to work independently with minimum guidance.
Ability to work harmoniously with faculty, staff, and students from
a wide variety of disciplines
- Experience in molecular neuroscience, working with autism or
neurodevelopmental mouse models and studying post-transcriptional
gene regulation in the brain.
**Appointment Information**
This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a
12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the
