Job Summary
As a team member in Dr. Tianhong Li's Lab, the incumbent, under supervision, will provide technical, scientific, and organizational assistance in routine cell cultures, drug dose-response studies, tissue collection and processing, molecular biology studies, gene expression analysis by quantitative RT-PCR, and mouse studies. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal communication, organizational, laboratory management, and technical skills. They will have the ability to work well independently as well as part of a team. Routine responsibilities include organizing the laboratory, purchase and restocking of research and laboratory supplies and reagents, planning and executing research studies, coordinating research activities with other lab members, mouse colony maintenance, tumor implantation, drug treatment and response monitoring, flow cytometry, qRT-PCR, and molecular cloning. #CA-SB

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience, preferably in biological or physical sciences.
At least one year of experience working in a research lab.
At least six months experience conducting research studies in cancer-related and/or molecular biology-based discipline.
Demonstrated work experience in mouse studies.
Demonstrated work experience in molecular biology techniques.
Demonstrated experience working with cellular and biochemical assays such as ELISA, flow cytometry, radioimmunoassay, proliferation and viability assays.
Demonstrated knowledge in gene cloning, establishing and selecting clonal cells, transfection, transduction, and maintaining cell culture.
Ability to collect, analyze and interpret scientific data.
Demonstrated knowledge of lab practices and relevant lab procedures and safety protocols, EH&S regulations and guidelines, including AALAC and NIH guidelines for animal care and safety.
Demonstrated intermediate skills using Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
Demonstrated interpersonal and verbal skills to communicate clearly and effectively with lab researchers and vendors.
Demonstrated time management and multitasking skills.
Demonstrated problem solving skills, utilizing colleagues, online resources, and good judgment.

Department Overview
The Division of Hematology Oncology has 33 faculty, six staff physicians, 12 fellows, 13 nurse practitioners, more than 50 staff, and operates a large and diverse clinical and research program. The Division is a major component of the NCI-designated UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center and has a strong presence in developmental therapeutics with an Experimental Therapeutics Clinical Trials Network (ETCTN) grant and as a Lead Academic Participating Site (LAPS) with the NCI National Clinical Trials Network.
