Job Title Temporary Research Associate Department Biology Essential Functions

  1. Assist with developing and validating protocols for assigned projects.

  2. Analyze results and prepare manuscripts for assigned projects.

  3. Assists generally in the lab when needed and be a supportive mentor to the undergraduates in the lab.

  4. Present results at meetings and conferences.

Work Schedule M-F: 40hrs/wk. (End Date: November 1st) Additional Duties

  • Required Qualifications

Potential applicants should be versed in molecular techniques, be able to demonstrate initiative, and can take the lead on the project (by doing extensive background readings, protocol development, validation of techniques, execution, analyses of results and manuscript preparation) related to microbiome ecology and evolution in hosts and the environments. Potential applicant will be placed on projects and expected to take the lead and supervise undergraduates regarding sample processing, learning and perform bioinformatic analyses of associated microbiomes from several sources, tackling very different questions, and presentation of results at conferences and at lab meetings.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Have a bachelor's degree in biology or related discipline.

  2. Have a graduate degree in and prior work or research in Microbial Ecology

  3. Self-motivated and capable of working on multiple projects.

  4. Ability to navigate and use NCBI databases.

  5. Greenhouse research experience.

  6. Be self-motivated and ambitious.

  7. Be willing to learn and receive constructive criticisms to improve.

  8. Have excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

  9. Have good communication and interpersonal skills.
