Staff Scientist Position in the Laboratory of Dr. Julio A. Aguirre-Ghiso, PhD
- Albert Einstein College of Medicine
- New York City, New York
- Full Time
A Staff Scientist position is available immediately to study the molecular and cellular mechanisms of bone marrow and other host alterations including clonal hematopoiesis and their impact on the fate of disseminated cancer cells across cancers. A position is open to develop groundbreaking cancer research at the Aguirre-Ghiso Lab and the Cancer Dormancy Institute, where we are at the forefront of unraveling how host variationssuch as aging associated clonal hematopoiesis, pathogen driven inflammatory processes and variations in niche composition drive cancer relapse and patient outcomes. Our latest work focuses on how age-associated somatic mosaicism can impact dormant cancer cells and fuel metastatic breast cancer progression, highlighting new opportunities for therapeutic intervention. By focusing on the interplay between the host microenvironment and cancer cell dormancy, our team pioneers innovative strategies to predict, prevent, and treat relapse. Join us as we push the boundaries of cancer biology to transform patient care . More information about our work can be found at:
PhD or MD graduates with significant research experience are preferred. Proficiency in molecular biology and cell biology techniques including manipulation and analysis of gene expression in cultured and primary cells, 3D organoid cultures, imaging and animal handling is important. Some knowledge of immunology would be desirable, and so are computational skills. First-authored publication(s) in peer-reviewed, English language journals are required. Ability to work independently and receive feedback, motivation to make novel discoveries, ability to constructively work with others in the team and a strong work ethic are important. A curriculum vitae with a description of research experiences, a career plan, and contact information for three references should be sent to ....
