Through leading innovations, we help farmers around the world meet the challenge of feeding a growing population and taking care of our planet. To support that challenge, Syngenta Seeds R&D team is currently seeking a Senior Scientist in Durham, NC.
This role will be responsible for advancing the discovery and characterization of novel insecticidal proteins through cellular and molecular approaches. This role will drive innovation in understanding protein-target interactions and mechanisms of action to support the development of new crop protection solutions.
Accountabilities
- Maintenance of insect cell culture ensuring optimal growth conditions and contamination control
- Utilize baculovirus expression systems for protein production
- Develop, optimize, and perform cell binding assays to characterize protein-target interactions
- Utilize confocal microscopy studies and image analysis
- Analyze and interpret complex experimental data using appropriate statistical methods
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior scientists
- Maintain detailed laboratory records and establish standardized protocols
- Present research findings to internal stakeholders
- Identify and implement new methodologies to advance research capabilities
- Contribute to overall research strategy and experimental design
- Troubleshoot technical challenges and develop innovative solutions
