Post Doctoral Associate (Jones Lab) - RNA Computational Chemist, Biophysicist

The Jonesy lab in the Chemistry Department of NYU is looking for a talented post-doctoral associate to perform interdisciplinary work on studying RNA structure, RNA-protein interactions, and dynamics, with a machine learning and computational chemistry focus.

Successful applicants will be highly motivated with an interest in working in Chemical/Structural Biology and must hold a Ph.D. degree in a related field (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Biology, Biophysics). The ideal candidate will have strong research experience, publications, and background knowledge in:

i) All atom and coarse grain molecular dynamics simulations for RNA using GROMACS, AMBER, MARTINI, OpenMM, or similar tools

ii) Experience with machine learning or AI experience (e.g., PyTorch, JAX) for RNA modeling and/or drug discovery

iii) Experience in coding and scripting (e.g., python, tcl)

The candidate will also help with mentorship and training graduate and undergraduate students.

The terms of employment, which would be a year, with a possibility of renewal, include a competitive salary and other benefits (including access to subsidized NYU housing in NYC). Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis beginning Sept 2025, and candidates will be considered until the position is filled. The candidate would be fully supported by current funding, and the start date could be immediate, if necessary.

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, this position's annual base salary range is $62,500 $63,500. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.
