Full Time/Part Time: Part-time

Temporary/Permanent: Temporary

Other Conditions: Federal funds. Appointment to begin approximately late February 2026.

Duties and Responsibilities

Research will involve analyzing a very large dataset of Hawaiian rare plant reintroductions, conducting complex statistical analyses, building matrix models, and writing manuscripts. Research will also involve ground-truthing model results through botanical field work, and traveling to other Hawaiian islands to co-facilitate workshops to share results.

Minimum Qualifications

PhD in botany or equivalent field. Must have in depth knowledge of and at least 4 years of experience in Hawaiian rare plant restoration ecology and demography; ability to manipulate and analyze very large datasets; advanced statistical modeling skills in R; ability to organize tasks and to work independently; ability to write scientific reports; excellent oral and written communication skills.

Desirable Qualifications

Experience conducting or co-facilitating workshops with resource managers Experience monitoring Hawaiian rare plant reintroductions; Experience publishing peer-reviewed research on Hawaiian rare plant reintroductions.
