Job Description:

SUNY Schenectady seeks a full-time Biology Instructor to join the Division of Math, Science, Technology and Health to teach various Biology courses including but not limited to: Human Biology, Biology I and II (for biology majors), Genetics, and Anatomy and Physiology. Courses may be offered in face-to-face or hybrid formats. We are excited to find an instructor that will work with the Division to promote various career options in the many subdisciplines of biology and healthcare to our students. Other responsibilities include committee and division assignments, participation in student success activities, assessment, course and program development, academic program review, interdisciplinary collaboration and College in the High School assessment coordination. The primary focus of the position is on face-to-face teaching. T are also opportunities to teach overload courses for additional compensation. RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teach a full-time, in-person course load (15 credit hours/semester);

Hold regularly scheduled office hours to provide students with support;

Prepare instruments to assess program goals and student progress;

Provide support and career advisement to students;

Provide expertise in developing and revising courses and programs;

Participate in division activities, to include but not limited to retention, recruitment, and academic program review;

Serve on college committees and participate in the College's shared governance process; and

Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree in Biology or biological subdisciplines, or a Master's degree in teaching with 18 graduate credits in biology.

Teaching experience, preferably in higher education.

Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to foster effective learning environments for students with varied backgrounds and experiences.

Preferred Qualifications:

Teaching experience at the community college level.

Experience with online instruction and learning management systems.
