Position Qualification Position Summary:
The Division of Nephrology, University of Nebraska Medical Center (Omaha), seeks a postdoctoral research associate, with a degree in biochemistry, immunology, pharmacology, physiology, pathology, or related field and expertise in immunological responses in vertebrate animals. Required experience includes skills in rodent handling, cell culture, and common cellular immunology and molecular biology techniques. Preferred experiences are with mouse models of kidney injury and microsurgical skills in particular. Successful applicants work will include investigation of mechanisms of kidney injury in kidney transplantation models. Studies will include investigation of signaling pathways leading to nephrotoxic injury of common immuno-suppressants, and studying the immunological and non-immunological mechanisms of late graft failure. Work will include collection, analysis, and interpretation of data, presentation at professional meetings, manuscript preparation, and grant writing. The successful candidate will have first-author publications in peer-reviewed journals and the ability to write research papers, with goal of multiple grant submissions in the first year. The successful candidate must possess strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and image and statistical analysis software is required.
