Laboratory Technician
Description - External
The laboratory studies a Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) bacterial pathogen. The employee is expected to maintain a safe working environment, perform a variety of laboratory experiments and procedures, prepare specimens, keep a thorough laboratory notebook, oversee supply management, and operate and properly maintain equipment. Applicants should have a bachelor's degree and minimum of 1 year experience that includes microbiology.
Qualifications - External
Performs a variety of laboratory techniques, including PCR, cloning, gene sequencing, molecular assays, microbiological assays, troubleshooting, and analysis. Ensures conformity to specifications.
Identifies, prepares, stores, and catalogues specimens.
Oversees supply management: ordering, procurement, tracking estimates, and receiving items.
Operates and maintains applicable laboratory equipment for job functions.
Keeps detailed, accurate, and timely data and log books. Organizes and documents results.
Maintains, calibrates, cleans, and tests sterility of laboratory equipment.
