Job Summary
The Student Assistant will support the Department of Biology as a Research Assistant on the Statesboro Campus beginning Summer 2026.
Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period.
Employment is contingent upon funding.
Responsibilities
Sets up and maintains stocks of insects and hybrid crosses
Collects larval samples from stocks and crosses
Measures and analyzes larval morphology
Keeps laboratory notebook
Writes results and meets with supervisor regularly
Shift Specifics
Up to 25 hours per week
Flexible with schedule of availability
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Experience
Previous laboratory skills
Previous experience problem solving
Previous experience working in a group setting
Proposed Salary
$15.00 per hour
This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.
