Chapman University is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position. This range takes into account a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Salary offers are determined based on the final candidate's qualifications and experience, as well as internal equity and other internal factors. Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary
Under PI (principal investigator's) supervision the Laboratory Technician will support and conduct lab experiments including immunostaining, molecular biology techniques, microscopy, general laboratory maintenance, and preparing chemical reagents and/or buffers.
This is a non-exempt staff position scheduled to work 21 hours per week from 5/1/26 - 7/1/26, subject to available funding.
Responsibilities
Research Support
Performing immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence staining
Acquiring fluorescence images using a microscope
Assist the Principal Investigator (PI) and postdoctoral researcher with mouse work in accordance with IACUC protocols.
Support tissue harvesting in mice and follow established laboratory protocols.
Research Documentation and Lab Maintenance
Record data accurately in a lab notebook
Ensure documentation is completed consistently to support research activities and compliance requirements
Performs laboratory and prep room cleanup in accordance with established procedures.
Required Qualifications
Experience working with mice in compliance with IACUC protocols, including tissue harvesting and processing.
Familiar with immunohistochemistry (IHC) and immunofluorescence (IF) staining.
Familiar with fluorescence microscopy, including acquisition and analysis of quality images.
Able to work individually and with a scientific team
Ability to conduct research in a timely manner and document all data.
Ability to operate laboratory equipment and maintain a safe working environment.
Ability to conduct research in a timely manner and document all data.
Desired Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and/or equivalent combination of education
