POSITION SPECIFICS The Department of Family and Community Medicine Research Division, at the Penn State College of Medicine, is seeking a Human Research Technologist - Health and Medicine. The successful candidate will work with Dr. Elizabeth Losin of the Social and Cultural Neuroscience Lab within the Department of Biobehavioral Health at University Park. This position will be based at the College of Medicine and is supported by a new NIH grant from the National Institute of Aging on the biopsychosocial mechanisms underlying the impact of structural racism and discrimination on chronic pain in black or African American older adults. In the Social and Cultural Neuroscience Lab, we combine theory and methodology from anthropology, psychology, and neuroscience to understand the complex relationships between culture, the brain, and health. RESPONSIBILITIES Recruit and Screen Participants Run and oversee behavioral and MRI data collection and data management Maintain and manage the study's IRB protocol. Maintain lab space - order and purchase supplies, keep track of space usage and booking Participate in lab meetings and present study updates PREFERRED EDUCATION, ABILITIES & EXPERIENCE Previous research experience (ideally in Psychology or Neuroscience) Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, Cognitive Science or a related field Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills Experience interacting with research participants MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS Associate Degree No prior relevant work experience required; previous relevant work experience accepted in lieu of education.
