Description
The University of Chicago's Department of Medicine, Section of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition seeks a Research Assistant Professor who will participate in multidisciplinary collaborative research initiatives where they are expected to make significant intellectual and technical contributions and publish original work in peer review journals. They will also contribute to grant development, mentor trainees and junior investigators, and support translational research programs aimed at improving patient outcomes. The appointee will contribute to research programs in genomics/epigenomics, cancer biomarker discovery, digestive disease mechanisms, and translational clinical research. Current research will focus on digestive disease mechanisms, with the goal of improving early detection, risk stratification, and therapeutic development to enhance patient outcomes.
The appointee will join a vibrant center of scientific discovery and innovation. Opportunities for multidisciplinary collaboration are abundant, both within and outside the Biological Sciences Division. The Biological Sciences Division, other academic units of the University of Chicago, and UChicago Medicine are all contained within one compact campus in Chicago's Hyde Park.
Compensation depends upon qualifications. This position is benefits-eligible. Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a doctoral degree or equivalent degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, cancer biology, or a related discipline and 2) have completed postdoctoral training.
