Job Summary:
The Department of Botany and Plant Pathology invites applications for a full-time (1.00 FTE ), 12-month, fixed term Research Associate position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Department Head.
This position exists to support research on emerging plant pathogens. The incumbent will be responsible for developing and applying computational methods to study and characterize emerging pathogens.

What You Will Need:
PhD in biology, computer science, or related fields.
More than 5 years (by start of position) of postdoctoral experience in computational biology and genomics of plant pathogens, including oomycetes.
Research experience with workflows including those for comparative and population genomics.
Experience with developing computational workflows for other researchers.
Experience using a high-performance computing ( HPC ) cluster.
Experience in developing/maintaining computational pipelines in nf-core, using R, Python, JavaScript, and Nextflow programming.
Familiarity with publishing and maintaining software on repositories such as CRAN , PyPI, and npm
Experience in Web design ( CSS , HTML , JavaScript).
Demonstrably collaborative
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
