Position Summary
This Clinical Research Assistant will join an established team of clinicians and researchers in Ophthalmology dedicated to understanding blinding pediatric retinal diseases and identifying those patients who may be eligible for treatment trials. As a Clinical Research Assistant, you will be involved in review of medical records to extract details of ophthalmic and genetic data for analysis and preparation for publication. Facility with EXCEL is critical; familiarity with MATLAB, R and other analysis programs useful. On occasion, you may assist with study visits for clinical trials. A collaborative spirit is essential to good performance on this job. This is a great position to learn about ophthalmology, clinical research, and vision sciences.

Key Responsibilities:
Review patient medical records to extract and document ophthalmic history.
Tabulates patient' data, plots graphs to summarize, and reviews with study team for further analysis.
Writes articles and summary papers of studies for submission to medical journals, as may be necessary/requested.
Coordinates and prepares the necessary documentation for Institutional Review Board IRB and Committee on Clinical Investigations CCI submissions, in collaboration with other team members and Principal Investigator.
Participates in the training of newly hired research study assistants, as required.
Coordinates activities between the hospital and research laboratories to ensure correct testing/processing and send out instructions specific to the study.
Communicates project policies and procedures to personnel.
Monitors and reviews data collection and data entry, and informed consent procedures ensuring consistency of application for each study.
Performs other miscellaneous administrative duties as assigned or required.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Bachelors degree in STEM or Psychology. Experience:
Analytical skills to gather and interpret data in which information or problems are moderately complex to complex.
Well-developed communication skills in order to provide critical information to patients, team members, effectively deal with conflicting views or issues, and the ability to mediate fair solutions.
Problem-solving, troubleshooting abilities and resourcefulness.
Ability to make a 2-year commitment.

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
