Dr. Yanzhong Yang laboratory in the Department of Cancer Genetics and Epigenetics at the Beckman Research Institute of City of Hope Cancer Center is looking for a Research Associate I to support one or more of the ongoing projects studying transcription regulation and RNA metabolism in normal development and human diseases, such as neurological disorder, immunology, and cancer. In particular, the Yang lab utilizes biochemistry, molecular biology, CRISPR-based genomic screen, single-cell transcriptomics, and genetically modified mouse models to investigate the role of protein arginine methylation in the regulation of chromatin biology, RNA splicing, and RNA modification in mammalian cells.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Utilize established protocols to perform a variety of research experiments, both in vitro with cell lines and in vivo with mouse models. Record and validate results for accuracy and completeness.

  • Develop techniques and expertise relevant to the laboratory's research projects.

  • Maintain thorough and accurate records of methodology and results. Analyze, compile, and graph data to present at lab meetings.

Your qualifications should include:

  • Bachelor's degree in biological sciences.

  • 0-2 years of research/laboratory experience.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with biochemical and molecular biology experiments, such as mammalian cell culture, Western blot, molecular cloning, RT-qPCR, et al.

  • Experience with mouse models and flow cytometry is a plus.

  • A desire to work in a collaborative, interdisciplinary lab environment that values communication, initiative, professionalism and teamwork.
