Research Assistant I

The Research Assistant I position supports the development and validation of mathematical models related to tumor growth and radiation therapy. The Research Assistant I collaborates closely with investigators, postdoctoral fellows, and research staff, contributing to innovative projects that drive translational research. The Research Assistant I plays a key role in data integrity, model development, and scientific dissemination within UT MD Anderson.
The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor's degree in applied mathematics and bring hands-on experience in computational research, with a preference for experience in numerical simulations of partial differential equations. This individual demonstrates strong analytical abilities, attention to data integrity, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a research-driven academic environment.
Minimum $18.99 - Midpoint $23.80 - Maximum $28.61

Responsibilities
Research & Model Development
Develop and numerically solve ordinary and partial differential equation models
Simulate, calibrate, and validate mathematical models of tumor growth and radiation therapy
Data Management & Analysis
Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of experimental results
Support data abstraction, curation, analysis, and interpretation
Ensure integrity and confidentiality of all collected data through rigorous quality assurance practices
Collaboration & Project Support
Collaborate with Principal Investigator, co-investigators, and research teams to align activities with policies
Assist the Principal Investigator in managing research studies and protocol requirements
Facilitate execution of research plans across multidisciplinary teams
Scientific Communication
Contribute to preparation of scientific manuscripts and publications
Present research findings to professional audiences
Laboratory Operations & Compliance
Manage laboratory equipment and support operational efficiency
Enforce safety protocols and promote safe research practices
