Summary
Research Associate I Position in Cancer Biology
The Jiang Laboratory at Moffitt Cancer Center is seeking a highly motivated, organized, and collaborative Research Associate I to join our growing research team. Our laboratory studies the role of oxidative stress, antioxidant defense systems, selenium metabolism, and cancer metabolism in tumor progression and therapy resistance, with a particular focus on lung cancer.
This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge cancer research in a dynamic and supportive environment. The successful candidate will work closely with laboratory members on a variety of projects involving molecular biology, cell biology, and translational cancer research.
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will:
- Have a strong foundation in molecular and cellular biology techniques.
- Possess experience culturing mammalian cell lines and/or primary mammalian cells.
- Demonstrate excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Be highly motivated, dependable, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
- Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Have effective time-management and problem-solving abilities.
- Prior experience working with mouse models is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities:
- Perform and assist with laboratory experiments under the guidance of the Principal Investigator and senior laboratory personnel.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure proper operation, calibration, and documentation.
- Manage laboratory inventory and coordinate the ordering of supplies and reagents.
- Collect, organize, analyze, and maintain accurate records of experimental data in both electronic and physical formats.
- Assist in the preparation of manuscripts, grant applications, progress reports, and regulatory documents.
- Participate in laboratory meetings and contribute to scientific discussions.
- Follow institutional policies and laboratory safety procedures.
Education and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Cancer Biology, or a related scientific discipline is required.
- Prior hands-on laboratory research experience.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative research environment.
Preferred
- Experience with mammalian cell culture.
- Experience with molecular biology techniques such as PCR, cloning, Western blotting, or CRISPR-based methods.
- Experience working with mouse models.
