A Glimpse of the Job

The Research Scientist acts as a manager for the NSF Noyce project Strengthening Mathematics Instructions for Elementary & Middle Schools with essential responsibilities in data management, report preparation, Noyce scholar recruitment and retention, professional development and school visit arrangements.

Please note:

  • This position is grant funded which is renewed under the provisions of the grantor of the agreement.

  • T his is a temporary, part-time (5 hours per week) position ending December 2026 .

Opportunities to Contribute

Project Data Management and Report Preparation

  • Manage and maintain the projects data collected from Noyce scholars to help ensure the projects compliance with the NSF requirements.

  • Assist the projects PI in developing, preparing, and managing the projects annual reports.

Plans and Implements Strategies to Attract and Retain Noyce Scholars

  • Assist the projects PI in developing and implementing strategies to identify and recruit potential Noyce scholars

Arranges Professional Development and School Visits for the Project

  • Arrange and manage professional development for Noyce scholars and school visits for the project

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • PhD in Curriculum and Instruction.

  • Six years of related experience in a specialized and relevant field of research.

  • Experience with grants.gov system for grant applications and project reports.

  • Worked with Noyce Scholars program. Have experience in data management, arranging and conducting professional development for Noyce scholars in preparation for teaching mathematics, arranging school site visits, and knowing the requirements of the annual reports and how they relate to the project.

A Well-Qualified Candidate Will Also Possess:

  • Know the requirements of the NSF Noyce grant Strengthening Mathematics Instructions for Elementary & Middle Schools and how to manage, support, and ensure all the requirements are met.

  • At least 5 years teaching mathematics in Texas public schools.

  • At least 10 years designing and providing teacher professional development for mathematics teachers in Texas.

  • Working experience at Texas A&M University.

  • Knowledge about school systems in Texas and other states, communication with Noyce scholars and local schools, data management and report preparation.

  • Excellent verbal and written skills.

  • Presentation skills.

  • Analytical skills.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Must be able to work independently as part of a multidisciplinary collaborative team.

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
