LAB Technician III

The Science Team at Russell Tobin & Associates supports the Engineering team that has an opening for Lab Tech in Maplewood, MN!

• Conduct tests following standard procedures for sample preparation, physical/mechanical performance, weathering, and polymer/rheology analysis.
• Prepare polymer solutions, apply coatings, and perform adhesive drying/curing.
• Analyze and summarize data using Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Communicate results clearly and participate in planning and team discussions.
• Maintain lab organization and perform basic equipment maintenance, especially microscopes.
• Record test conditions, results, and observations in spreadsheets, lab notebooks, or reports.
• Develop and document test methods.
• Support general lab activities as needed.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 1 year of experience in a lab, Mechanical, Electrical or pilot plant setting.
• Hands-on experience with analytical or material property testing.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with mechanical testing (tensile, peel, elongation), coatings, or polymer analysis (DSC, TGA, DMA, rheometry).
• Knowledge of adhesives and visual standards (gloss, color, defects).
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with microscopes or similar equipment.
• Technical training or education (Associate s, Vocational, or Bachelor s).
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with diverse teams.

Additional Details:
Duration: 12 Months contract with the possibility of extension (Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM)
Pay range: $20 to $28/hour on W2
