Researching Heart Attack, Heart Failure, Stroke, Hypertension, Diabetes... With the increasing frequency of obesity and diabetes, especially in Gia, cardiovascular disease is reaching epidemic proportions. The Vascular Biology Center at the Medical College of Gia at Augusta University knows the demand is high for new and better treatments. Our internationally recognized team of research experts have one goal to make breakthroughs in the prevention and treatment of disease so that we all may live longer, healthier lives.
Job Summary
Research Associate performs advanced administrative and technical work in support of research projects. Ongoing research projects focus on the development of blood vessels (e.g., aorta and cerebral vasculature) and the related neonatal disease. Lab operations include cell culture, realtime PCR, flow cytometry, western blotting, histological studies, gene silencing and overexpression, genotyping assay, and mouse handling.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to
EXPERIMENTAL SETUP AND EXECUTION Perform lab experiments including cell culture, protein and RNA isolation, western blot, PCR, ELISA, and Immunohistochemistry according to the research protocols.
DATA COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS Ensure accurate data collection during experimental procedures, maintaining detailed records of all results and observations.
ANIMAL CARE AND HANDLING Follow established protocols for the care and handling of laboratory mice, ensuring their wellbeing and adnce to ethical guidelines.
COLLABORATIVE SUPPORT Work closely with the research team, contributing to the development of experimental protocols and preparation of experiments and equipment. Assist in the preparation of reports, presentations, and manuscripts based on experimental results.
LABORATORY MAINTENANCE Maintain the laboratory environment, including the upkeep of equipment, inventory management, and ensure that all safety protocols are followed.
OTHER Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in research, basic science or clinical laboratory research.
OR
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science and a minimum of three years' research andor clinical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with cell culture, animal breeding, genotyping, routine lab experiments like western blot and RNA isolationqPCR
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
KNOWLEDGE
Proficient in Microsoft Office and otherputer softwaredatabases.
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbalmunication skills.
ABILITIES
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Willingness and ability to work with research animals.
Ability to use sound judgement and work independently.
Must be highly motivated with strong work ethic, attention to detail, and desire to learn.

Salary to bemensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimummidpoint) of the position.
