Job Description


Responsible for working closely with the Research Scientist to implement utilize and innovatively apply essential methods of cellular and molecular biology in in vitro and in vivo models of IBD. Techniques include real time PCR, cytokine measurement, intracellular cytokine staining, flow cytometry, cell culture, immunohistochemistry, ELISPOT, and other protein and RNA related methods.

Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

  • Utilizes established procedures to perform routine assigned research tasks
  • Learns and applies good clinical practice and research integrity concepts
  • Works on biomedical problems of limited scope. Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing data
  • Conducts literature reviews, medical record reviews, and meta-analyses
  • Assists in the collection and analysis of data
  • Organizes, maintains, and updates project-related files and databases
  • Attends routine project meetings and presents research findings, as required
  • Contributes to various studies with new research plans and ideas
  • Collaborates effectively with all faculty and team members
  • Assists with the Department of Surgerys Summer Student Program
  • Assists with various projects as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • College graduate with strong interest in pursuing medical school preferred
  • Proficiency in Excel, Stata, Minitab, and R software to analyze large clinical databases
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong ability to write and present research studies at professional meetings
  • Experience with molecular biology, including RNA extraction and PCR as well as ELISA technology is a plus
