Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Lab Tech Assistant - Casual for the School of Engineering. Dr. Biju Parekkadan's laboratory specializes in cell, tissue, and gene therapy. He is currently recruiting a highly motivated part-time technician with an interest in helping to manage lab operations and support research projects. Applicants with experience with cell culture, molecular biology, flow cytometry, and/or animal studies are highly encouraged. Technicians will also be exposed to practical skills in regulatory science and on the preparation of biologic medicines under GMP guidelines.Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Conducts lab experiments.
- Supports the drafting procedures/protocols.
- Manages supply chain/equipment.
- Opens up opportunities to develop project management and operations skills.
- Performs commercial kit assays (e.g. ELISA , Western blot, RNA / DNA quantification), histology, and other experiments under the guidance of the principal investigator.
- Orders supplies, monitors stock, routine cleaning and equipment maintenance.
- Drafts protocols and manuscripts, where appropriate.

- Bachelor's degree in a scientific/technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and/or relevant laboratory technician or research study experience carrying out research protocols and tests, or other technical work may be substituted for the degree.
- Must be able to conduct literature surveys and understand technical documents.
- Must be computer literate with experience in data analysis, manuscript preparation, and technical writing.
- Experience with Microsoft Office (or equivalent) tools for work processing, presentation preparation, and data analysis.
- Must have strong interpersonal skills and be familiar with scientific collaboration.
- Master's degree in a biomedical science or engineering discipline preferred.
- Regular work week may include evening and weekend hours.
