Compensation: $104,000 - $135,500 per year. You are eligible for a Short-Term Incentive Plan with the target at 7.5% of your annual earnings; terms and conditions apply.

Project Manager - Continuous Improvement – Remote PST or Hybrid in Aliso Viejo, CA

The CI practitioner will focus on ongoing efforts to improve products, processes, and services provided by Ambry Genetics by reducing waste and increasing quality. This position reports to Continuous Improvement, Program Manager within the PMO and is an integral role to promote the continuous improvement culture within the Ambry Genetics organization.

Essential Functions

  • Work with cross functional teams to lead and streamline processes to improve the operations, enable profitable growth and efficiencies
  • Diplomatically cultivate an action-based culture of continuous improvement to improve KPIs, in the areas of customer, finance, people, and quality
  • Provide support to develop problem solving capabilities for all organizational levels
  • Train, coach, and follow-up with teams to ensure improvements are sustained and the stakeholders are running the processes independently
  • Work closely with the PMO and leadership teams to identify ways to accelerate culture change
  • Provide ongoing support to multiple teams not limited to R&D, Bioinformatics, Operations, and commercial teams
  • Help teams identify new projects through value stream mapping, data analysis, and daily management systems
  • Manage some high-level cross-functional improvement projects as a project manager
  • Manage the relationship with all stakeholders, project champion/sponsor, and project team
  • Delegate and manage project tasks to ensure that projects are completed on time
  • Measure project results (impact to business) using appropriate systems, tools, and techniques
  • Develop project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring alignment with organization’s goals and strategies
  • Create a detailed project plan to track progress, effectively communicate that progress with key stakeholders and senior leaders
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, Management, or a related field or 5 years of education and equivalent work experience combined in a related field
  • Experience in a clinical diagnostic setting, genetics laboratory environment with direct exposure to and use of lean tool (preferred)
  • Experience with Lean Concepts with demonstrated success improving lab processes
  • Experience leading successful Value Stream Mapping events, Rapid Improvement Events and Six Sigma projects
  • Track record of delivering results in a high-performance continuous improvement environment
  • Strong facilitation skills, confident communicator (both verbally and written) with all levels of an organization and diverse audiences
  • Highly collaborative with a demonstrated ability to build strong, credible relationships and teams throughout the organization
  • Firm understanding of the application of Root Cause Problem Solving techniques
  • Technical expertise–to have a firm understanding of process improvement techniques and experience applying these if they are to make organizational changes
  • Organizational skills–spearhead both the planning and implementation stages of multiple projects, so they must be organized and committed to meeting deadlines
  • Leadership skills–coaching, training and inspiring other team members to give their best effort and setting the direction for many initiatives
  • Analytical thinking–critically evaluate individual processes and projects, then synthesize their insights to arrive at a summary of overall organizational status
  • Communication skills– being able to speak, listen, and write well is important, as continuous improvement managers often hold presentations, facilitate meetings and trainings, and create reports

Preferred

  • ASQ Certified Six Sigma Black Belt
  • MBA
  • PMI PMP Certification
  • SME Lean Bronze (or higher) certification
  • Experience with lean transformation and shingijutsu kaizen
  • Operations Excellence Experience
  • Familiarity with SAP
  • Knowledge of governmental regulations and compliance requirements including CLIA & HIPPA regulatory requirements, health and safety
