Analytical Instrumentation Lab Technician

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies
  • Adhere to laboratory safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform routine laboratory maintenance tasks, such as cleaning and calibrating equipment.
  • Provide technical support to other team members as needed.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the laboratory.
  • Provide instrumentation triage and support to the scientific community.
  • Support vendors with systems maintenance and general repairs.
  • Responsible for CMMS data integrity and management.
  • Assist in developing operational priorities, goals and objectives related to asset management
  • Maintain a comprehensive inventory of assets and condition assessment of those assets
  • Work with all departments to optimize and enhance the asset management system
  • Develop and analyze metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Direct the compiling of all data on physical assets to include inspection history, repairs, replacements and failures
  • Improve user competencies (including how-to guidance, Standard Operating Procedures, training, job aids, knowledge, tools, etc.)
  • Perform ongoing quality check of the asset management workflow practices with consistent data entry including but not limited to the creation of work orders, logging of labor, parts and material purchasing and inventory management, etc.
  • Oversee condition assessment reporting, benchmarking and forecasting future levels of service
  • Assist in software application life cycle, including gathering and reviewing requirements, risks and issues and scheduling releases, and application updates
  • Exercise significant professional and technical judgement and initiative.

Work schedule:

  • 7:30AM - 4:00PM, with some after-hours and weekend work as needed

Desired or preferred experience and technical skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline, such as chemistry or biology
  • Certification as a laboratory technician or related field
  • Experience with laboratory software, such as LIMS or ELN
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines
  • Experience exercising professional and technical judgment

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience working in a laboratory setting
  • Experience working with analytical equipment, such as HPLC or GC
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety regulations and best practices
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Experience with CMMS software
  • Ability to analyze technical information
