Job Title: Laboratory Technician

Job Description

As a Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for performing a wide variety of lab operation procedures and analysis of biological specimens. This involves isolating and manufacturing fresh and cryopreserved cell-based products from healthy blood and bone marrow specimens, while keeping quality control specifications and internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at top of mind.

Responsibilities

  • Perform cell processing and analysis on human blood, bone marrow, and cord blood specimens, using techniques such as immunomagnetic cell separation, isolations, cell culture, flow cytometry, ELISA, assessments, functional studies, and cryopreservation, in accordance with established SOPs, Federal and State regulations, and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
  • Accurately complete batch records by carefully receiving, recording, and processing all materials, specimens, and reagents for order requests using the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Independently prepare and review laboratory reports, record abnormal values, and take preventative corrective actions as required.
  • Conduct routine monitoring, inventory, and quality control of laboratory equipment, temperature-controlled units, and working conditions, including equipment maintenance.

Essential Skills

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in biological science with an emphasis in immunology and/or hematology.
  • Minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience in testing in a laboratory or other clinical environment.
  • Substantial experience using immunomagnetic cell isolation procedures, preferably with fresh and frozen human blood samples, and immunological assays, including flow cytometry and functional cell assays.
  • Ability to use and maintain a wide variety of laboratory or medical equipment.
  • Understanding of GLP regulations and excellent documentation skills for Quality Control paperwork.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish good working relationships with a variety of professional, technical, and non-technical staff.

Work Environment

The role involves working with various laboratory instruments and techniques in a controlled laboratory environment. Technicians must adhere to established SOPs and GLP regulations while maintaining meticulous documentation and quality control standards. The position requires strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $33.00/hr.
