The Research Scientist will lead and support research initiatives focused on demographic trends, population dynamics, migration, fertility, mortality, family demography, and socioeconomic influences on population health. The Research Scientist will collaborate with IPR affiliates on research projects and assist in preparing research results for publication and presentation at conferences. They will pursue external funding for their salary and research program and serve as co-investigator on externally funded research projects and as Principal Investigator on grant applications. This role will mentor junior researchers, postdoctoral scholars, and graduate students as appropriate, including through informal collaboration and through IPR activities and events. The Research Scientist will maintain up to date knowledge on trends and developments in population studies.
Required Qualifications:
PhD in relevant field required and minimum of 2 years (post PhD) conducting research in population science. Demonstrated expertise in current research expectations and methods. Demonstrated ability to be a competent and productive researcher as evident by publication record, citation of research by others, presentations to scientific organizations or contributions to the research field required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in collaborative teams to carry out scientific research. Interest and expertise in topics related to IPRs primary research areas in sexual and reproductive health, family demography, health and mortality, and adolescent and young adult development.
Additional Information:This is a two-year term position, with the possibility of extension based on funding availability and performance.
