This position will be housed in the Population Research Center (PRC) in the College of Liberal Arts at UT. The position will report to Matt Giani, Research Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology and Faculty Affiliate at the PRC. The position is funded by multiple grants from sources such as the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Spencer Foundation, Ascendium Education Group with the possibility of funding from additional sources in the future.

Purpose

The purpose of this position is to lead or co-lead multiple research projects related to studying policies, programs, and interventions designed to support students preparedness for, transition into, and success in college and career pathways, to disseminate that research through academic and non-academic channels, and to pursue external funding in support of that research agenda. This is a fixed-term position lasting one year with possibility of extension based on job performance and continued funding.

Responsibilities

  • Lead or co-lead the development and execution of research projects

  • Develop data collection instruments and research protocols, including for Institutional Review Board (IRB) review and approval

  • Support the collection of qualitative data through site visits, interviews, focus groups, and/or observational methods

  • Analyze qualitative and quantitative data collected on research projects

  • Conduct literature reviews, systematic reviews, and/or meta-analyses on topics related to research agenda

  • Present research and practitioner and scholarly conferences, meetings, and events

  • Publish policy briefs, memos, and reports for audiences of practitioners and policymakers

  • Publish peer-reviewed publications

  • Secure extramural funding for research

  • Supervise undergraduate and graduate research assistants

Required Qualifications

  • PhD degree in education or a related field with a focus on education

  • 3-5 years of experience with research design and execution in education research

  • Experience analyzing large-scale administrative educational datasets

  • Experience analyzing qualitative data

  • Experience managing undergraduate or graduate research assistants on large-scale research projects

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD degree in educational policy, higher education, or STEM education

  • Experience using Texass Education Research Centers to conduct educational research

  • Experience conducting research on career and technical education and/or industry-based certifications

  • Familiarity with research on policies and programs designed to support students preparedness for, transition into, and success in college and career pathways

Salary Range

$60,000 + depending on qualifications
