They very strictly follow safety and food regulatory standards. The company has a small QC laboratory, and they are looking to hire a Lab Assistant. The culture is friendly and professional.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$52k - $55k
Position Overview:
The Lab Assistant conducts wet-chemistry and instrumental tests on food products, including moisture and pH analyses. This role is ideal for an early-career professional with a Bachelor's in the sciences who is looking for a long-term, steady position. This is a direct hire role with a competitive benefits package and job stability. This is Monday- Friday daytime hours, 40 hours/week.
Responsibilities of the Lab Assistant:
- The Lab Assistant will be assisting with sample preparation, testing, documentation, and general laboratory support.
- Following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to accurately weigh, measure, mix, and test materials.
- Performing wet chemistry and instrumental testing to evaluate physical and chemical properties.
- Operating and maintaining laboratory instruments.
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and inspection-ready workbench and laboratory space.
- Entering, reviewing, and verifying test data with attention to accuracy and traceability.
- Managing chemical, sample, and consumable inventory to ensure supplies are stocked and organized.
- Adhering strictly to all safety protocols to maintain a safe and professional laboratory environment.
- Helping out the lab and facility as needed with other related tasks.
Required Experience/Skills for the Lab Assistant:
- The Lab Assistant will need hands-on experience handling chemicals, managing waste disposal, and documenting experimental results (academic experience is great!).
- Ability to perform basic math calculations accurately.
- Ability to independently calibrate, operate, and troubleshoot basic laboratory equipment.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Chemistry Lab Assistant:
- Professional communication skills and a dependable, detail-oriented work style.
- Experience using Microsoft Excel and Word for data entry and documentation.
- A positive attitude with a strong willingness to contribute within a team environment.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field is required for the Lab Assistant role.
- If the degree is in progress, but not yet completed, that can be acceptable as long as 60 hours of the sciences have been completed.
